Why its so important to supplement live food

Live food typically used in reptile keeping actually has a naturally diverse & varied diet.

When they eat, they ingest vegetation & protiens rich In minerals & trace elements as well as minerals directly from the small amounts of ‘earth’ they also accidentally consume & get coated in in the process.

These ‘ingredients’ create live food with a rich & diverse gut content of essential nutritional value to the consumer, which directly benefits them once ingested.

If we compare this to captive reared live food which is frequently maintained on a single source of food such as bran within a plastic tub, we can then clearly understand where & why supplements come into play.

Dusting live food helps replace minerals & trace elements which have been lost as a result of captivity.
