Whats the biggest argument against change with animal husbandary?
115 year old Wallace!
My previous animal lived a long time and seemed ‘happy’ despite new research now contradicting my ways.
Unfortunately, this is often one of the biggest misunderstandings that hinders the positive progression of animal keeping.
The truth is survival is not an indication of health & well-being, In fact quite the opposite. So why is this?
An animals (including humans) two most powerful drives in existence are to both procreate & survive. These drives are so strong animals will still be motivated to ssurvive and reproduce even in the most challenging and unsuitable of conditions.
What we dont know underneath is how much thar animal is potentially suffering both physically and mentally - it can be incredibly difficult for us humans to read exotic animals.
This inability to determine this makes it all the more important we do keep on top of our game as much as possible. Regular health checks with an Exotics vet and continous research and being open minded to change is key.
