Why you should avoid using coloured night lamps for Reptiles

Many are misguided by red or moonlight bulbs because they are cleverly marketed & advertised as a safe option for night-time heat. However, they can actually be quite physically & mentally damaging for Reptiles.

Here’s why 👇

👉They are often sold under the claim that Reptiles cannot see the red light, only feeling the heat, when the reality is quite the opposite. Reptiles can actually see more colours on the light spectrum than we can. Therefore, it is very likely they can see the light.

👉Reptiles need a day/night cycle to properly function & thrive. We can all imagine how stressful it would be ourselves to be exposed to & trying to sleep with constant light.

👉It is not natural & reflective of a wild environment. All animals have evolved to utilise light as well as darkness as part of there physical & mental well-being.

👉Many vital processes in the body rely on cues from light or darkness to occur. Not having these can lead to stress & a compromised immune system.
