The importance of Natural Sunlight

What is the main thing we miss in winter?🥶

The sun! ☀️

We all dred the short days & lack of time outside. It contributes to an overall feeling of blergh!

Even one day without sunlight & we can feel it both physically & mentally.

This is because we have evolved to utilise the sun to our advantage. For millions of years it has been a huge part of our daily existence.

Therefore it makes sense that natural selection has highly favoured it.

So what about our animals? 🤔

Well, its very likely that if our animal experiences natural light as a part of their daily exsistence in the wild then they too will have evolved to utlise it to benefit them in some way.

This is why we are big advocates for ‘getting our animals outside’. ☀️

Obviously common sense would say its not suitable taking Reptiles out in mid winter, however even 5 or 10 mins of natural light on a ‘sunny’ day can be highly beneficial for many animals & not to mention very enriching!

There are also a whole host of other benefits that the vast majority of us are just not aware of yet.

We will cover much more on this in future posts 👍
